Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my health insurance with DPC?

DPC operates outside of insurance billing, so your monthly membership is paid directly to the clinic. You can still keep your insurance for hospitalizations, specialist visits, or emergencies. Many patients pair DPC with a high-deductible health plan to save money overall.

Is DPC the same as concierge medicine?

They're similar in spirit but differ in cost and model. Concierge practices typically charge much higher fees ($200–$300+/month) and still bill insurance on top. DPC is designed to be genuinely affordable — our plans start at $85/month with no insurance billing at all.

What if I need to see a specialist?

Dr. Rajan will personally coordinate your care with any specialists you need, and advocate on your behalf. She maintains relationships with local specialists and will help ensure you get timely, appropriate care. Specialist visits are outside the membership and may involve your insurance.

How do I reach Dr. Rajan between visits?

As a member, you have direct access to Dr. Rajan by phone or telemedicine. No phone trees, no nurse callbacks, no weeks-long waits. This direct relationship is one of the core benefits of the DPC model.

What is not included in my membership?

Labs and imaging not conducted in-office are not included, but are available at heavily discounted rates through our network. Specialist visits, hospitalizations, and procedures outside the clinic are also not covered — those are typically handled through your insurance.

Can my employer enroll my team at Opal?

Yes! Opal Primary Care works with employers to provide affordable, high-quality primary care for employees. It's a cost-effective benefit that employees actually use. Contact us directly to discuss employer membership options.

Is there a contract or cancellation policy?

Memberships are structured in 3, 6, or 12-month plans. Please contact the clinic directly for details about cancellation policies and what happens if your circumstances change during a membership period.

Do you see patients of all ages?

Dr. Rajan is a board-certified Family Medicine physician, meaning she is trained to care for patients across the lifespan. Please contact the clinic to confirm care for pediatric patients or to discuss your family's specific needs.
